About

For OB-GYN Rebecca Hamel, MD, excellent care starts with trust and comfort between patient and physician.

She believes communication with people in her care should be open and straightforward. Dr. Hamel views her job—caring for women through all stages of life, from puberty to menopause and beyond—as an honor.

Dr. Hamel wanted to become be a doctor because it is the perfect combination of science and helping others. She decided to be an OB-GYN after she experienced her nephew’s birth via caesarean section.  
Dr. Hamel attended medical school at the University of Kansas Medical Center and completed her OB-GYN residency at the University of Oklahoma School of Community Medicine. She has been recognized by the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists with the Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology award.

Dr. Hamel lives in Leavenworth, Kansas, with her husband and two border collies. In her free time, she loves to be outdoors—especially at National Parks—hiking, camping, and kayaking. She is also a lifelong Midwesterner who LOVES sharks.

Dr. Hamel performs gynecologic surgery and delivers babies at Saint Luke’s North Hospital–Barry Road.
