About

Elizabeth Lavery, MD, is an obstetrician/gynecologist (OB/GYN) who provides care for pregnancy, menopause, and all the years in between.

She specializes in contraception and sterilization, abnormal pap test management, breastfeeding medicine, and vulvovaginal disorders.

Dr. Lavery believes in empowering her patients to make the best decisions for their health and life.

“I recognize that all treatment options have pros and cons, and no two patients are identical when it comes to all the factors that go into their healthcare and decisions,” shares Dr. Lavery.

“I’m always happy to explain what we know (and what we don’t know) and why I’m recommending a particular course of action. When a patient tells me the visit was very informative, I know I’ve done my job well.”

She received her undergraduate degree in biology with highest honors from Georgia Tech in Atlanta and attended medical school at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

She completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Lavery originally considered pursuing a career in research. However, she decided she enjoyed the problem-solving and human connections that come with caring for patients.

To provide the best breastfeeding care for her patients, Dr. Lavery earned an International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBCLC) certification.
