Dr. Kathleen Bren is a board certified OB/GYN who has been practicing in the DC metropolitan area since 2019. She is known for her dedication to patient-centered and compassionate care, as well as her thoughtful, thorough approach to women’s health. Dr. Bren joins the Bloom OB/GYN team in December 2024 with extensive experience and a loyal and local following. Dr. Bren’s special interests include comprehensive women’s wellness, preventive care, and empowering patients in their reproductive health journeys.
Dr. Bren grew up in Washington, DC and completed her undergraduate studies at Cornell University. She went on to earn her medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine and completed her OB/GYN residency at Medstar WHC/Georgetown. In her free time, Dr. Bren loves spending time at home with her family, tackling home improvement projects and hosting get-togethers with loved ones. She’s thrilled to join the Bloom OB/GYN team and looks forward to serving the DC community with her warm, supportive care.
Dr. Bren’s practice will include all areas of obstetrics and gynecology.

PLACES I’VE LIVED: Washington, DC, with memorable stints in Thailand and Australia.
EDUCATION/TRAINING: Cornell University (BS), George Washington University School of Medicine (MD), Medstar WHC/Georgetown OB/GYN residency program.
WHY OB/GYN? I grew up spending summers in an OB/GYN practice where my mom worked, so the field has always felt like home. Now, I’m honored to be part of such a vital aspect of women’s lives, where the relationships we build with patients are incredibly meaningful.
WHO KNEW: The OB who delivered me is my son’s god(grand)mother!
TRAVEL MEMORIES: Falling on a sea urchin in Thailand (ouch!), and attending a Big Fat Greek Wedding in Greece.
SOMEDAY I PLAN TO GO TO: African safari.
THESE ARE SOME THINGS I DO IN MY SPARE TIME: My happy place is at home with my family and our dog! I’m always planning my next house project, love cooking and hosting, and can easily get lost in a good mini-series.
A REALLY BIG ACCOMPLISHMENT: Motherhood (an ongoing journey).
