I am an obstetrician and gynecologist for Durham OB/GYN. I follow patients during their teenage years, through pregnancies and menopause. One of the special things about being a practicing OB/GYN is being a part of the lifelong care of a woman. When I meet a new patient I like to get a good history and set a treatment plan that is specific to that individual's needs and problems. Plus, being a part of the Duke team allows me to work closely with a woman’s primary care provider along with any specialist. My favorite part of my job is all of the different things I get to do, from seeing patients in the office to delivering babies to being a part of OR procedures. The variety keeps me very motivated. In my spare time, I enjoy exploring the outdoors with my husband and two little girls.

31F/no kids/long term partner. Went for 1st visit (normal annual exam). I brought up that I wanted permanent BC and had for many years, and that I was nervous of being shot down. No bingo, other than general discussion of the process and risks. She proactively mentioned bilateral salpingectomy as the preferred and most effective method. Said she’d have the front office call me to go over insurance and schedule the procedure, and that was that.
