Originally from Chicago, Dr. Amy Ottensmeyer completed her undergraduate degree in Biological Basis of Behavior at the University of Pennsylvania, where she was also a member of the varsity swim team. Following completion of her undergraduate degree, she worked in financial services for several years before deciding to pursue medicine. She received her medical degree from Emory University, and stayed at Emory to complete her residency training in Gynecology and Obstetrics.
During residency, Dr. Ottensmeyer was the recipient of the Ryan Program Award for Excellence in Family Planning as well as the Silver Apple Teaching Award. Following residency, she began her career in private practice at Newton-Wellesley Obstetrics and Gynecology in Massachusetts, before relocating back to Atlanta and joining Piedmont Women’s Healthcare in 2022.
Her clinical interests include general and high-risk obstetrics, contraception, abnormal uterine bleeding, preventive screening, preconception planning, and infertility. Outside of work, Dr. Ottensmeyer enjoys exploring the outdoors with her husband and two energetic little boys, as well as reading high fantasy novels, knitting and crocheting, and practicing yoga.
