Salpingectomy, 31 at the time, partnered but not married. My left tube + ovary had to be removed several months prior in an emergency surgery due to torsion that led to necrosis; the emergency facility that did that procedure was a Catholic hospital that refused to also remove the other tube for religious reasons, which is what led me to make an appointment with Dr Slemmens. I didn’t even have a routine exam before seeing her for a consult. Literally the first time I met her, she agreed to remove my other tube (not sure if my oophorectomy impacted her willingness to do this). No bingos, just the usual “this process is irreversible” conversation. I saw her again a week before the surgery itself, where she asked me to confirm I wanted the procedure and she gave me instructions on how to prepare for the surgery. The surgery was January 2023 and went great, no complications.
