Dr. Abder graduated cum laude from Harvard University in 1995. She obtained a master's degree in Public Health in 1997 and went on to earn her medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine in 2003. She completed her residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in 2007.
Dr. Abder worked at Women’s Health Care Group of Pennsylvania prior to joining Women’s Health Care of Trumbull, a Women's Health Connecticut practice, in December 2009. Dr. Abder is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Abder was extremely respectful of my request—no “what if you change your mind” nonsense, just informed consent about the process. She offered me a surgery date within 6 weeks. I’m plus-sized and was concerned I’d be denied an elective procedure due to BMI; it wasn’t a problem at all. I felt respected, informed, and empowered throughout the process. Dr. Abder is not only an incredibly skilled surgeon (my single incision is tiny and I had almost no post-surgical pain), but a progressive and caring practitioner.
