While I enjoy all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology, my special interest is gynecologic surgery. Many women suffer from heavy, prolonged, irregular and/or painful periods. They think (and are sometimes told) that there is nothing to be done about the situation. That couldn’t be further from the truth. When one’s quality of life is affected, that’s enough reason to do something about the issue. While many medical therapies can improve these situations, surgery can offer a permanent solution. There have been amazing improvements in how surgery is performed, making it safer and allowing a better and quicker recovery for patients. There are so many misconceptions about surgery. When these misconceptions are explained, many patients decide to undergo surgery. I never tire of hearing how happy they are with their decision.
