I grew up as a “Kaiser Permanente kid” since my parents had Kaiser Permanente insurance at that time. I knew then that this was a great place to work because of the integration of medicine, the multidisciplinary approach, the ability to coordinate care which is 100 times better now with our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and having everything under one roof.
I had always looked for a job with the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group and when the opportunity presented itself I jumped at it. I am very happy with my decision, it is everything that I hoped it would be and more.
An area of interest to me is adolescent and young women health care. I enjoy having an impact in a young women’s life. They are faced with many challenges; body image, pressures to fit in, pressures to be sexually active and the consequences that result. I especially enjoy the first gynecological visit. I love dispelling pre-conceptions of the exam women come in with after talking with their female friends. This exam shapes young women for the rest of their lives and it needs to be as comfortable and relaxing as possible.
My philosophy of care is to give the best possible care with warmth and compassion but not be afraid to tell you the truth when it is needed.
