Dr. Shivkamini Somasundaram (everyone calls her Dr. Mini), who I traveled out of state to see. Performed hysterectomy with endometriosis excision on 24F. She is very empathetic and trauma-informed which was very helpful for me. She never made me go through a pelvic exam prior to surgery, she told me she would only do so after I was anesthetized and she kept her promise. Very kind and compassionate, believes everyone should have the right to their own bodies. Originally scheduled for a bisalp, but when I arrived the week of surgery I was able to meet with her and got it changed to hyster within 48hrs of the surgery and she was totally willing. Did require a note from my psychiatrist confirming that I’ve always felt this way, which was easy for me in particular as I’d been seeing the same one since I was 17, but important to keep in mind.
